Doug Courtney received his Bachelors of Science Degree in Business Administration from the University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati, Ohio and his Masters in Business Degree from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was the owner of various businesses in the Cincinnati Metropolitan area before relocating to Florida. Upon his arrival in Florida he became involved in local government, simultaneously serving as City Clerk and Town Clerk for two public entities. His position as the first City Clerk for the new City of Palm Coast involved the setting up of all policies and procedures, budgets and government development plans for a newly formed city that has become 50,000 plus residents and one of the fastest growing cities in the United States. His background in finance and marketing insured the highest marks in the audits conducted during and after his tenure.
Mr. Courtney used his computer skills developed with the early languages of FORTRAN and COBOL to move into the the emerging online markets developing online databases for two Internet companies. He later moved to developing his own online business and began freelance web development for many businesses and local entities.
Mr. Courtney began combining his computer knowledge and his knowledge of people to make computer usable and friendly database programs. The emphasis was on the ease of use of these programs with less than technically inclined individuals. One of his first efforts involved the retrieval of information by volunteers in political action committees.
Using the information gained from these early efforts and the information supplied by Dr. Melvin, Mr. Courtney created the Patient Practitioners software product with the iPHER delivery system. The product merges the ease of access of immediate information needed by healthcare professionals with the ease of use and understanding required by the patient.
The need for a quick, inexpensive, multi-system capable, universally accepted program design along with a little to no technical instruction design was incorporated in every step of the process. The result is a program that can be utilized to digitize the smallest rural doctor's office and yet be completely incorporated and used in the largest medical facility making medical care truly available world wide.
Mr. Courtney has received many awards and certificates in achievement and knowledge in marketing and business throughout his career. He writes professionally as well as for recreation, completing three books and four screenplays and numerous articles and short stories. He has recently taught computers and database programming at St. John's River Community College
